Things are in full swing here planning our next bike trip.

In case you haven’t heard, we are going to France for a month this summer for our friends’ wedding. There are a couple of things we want to do such as visit with our friends from Dijon, and to watch Le Tour de France. Amanda fancies herself running topless uphill, helping Ryder Hejesdal to VICTORY!?!

Right now the plan is to fly into Amsterdam, ride to Dijon, ride to Grenoble (not shown on map, but it is a days ride SE of Lyon. From there we might take the train to Bordeaux and then ride to Toulouse (not shown on map, 2-3 days ride) for Kim and Vaughan’s wedding. From there we would continue on to Barcelona, and when we have had our visit, we would take the train to Paris to explore the city before coming home.

Some helpful websites that I have found include:

The distance from Eindhoven to Paris is about 500 km.

Total length Eindhoven – Barcelona: 1690 km

Car Free: Up to 250 km or 290 km Cluny, Cluny 80 km to Barcelona.

Nature of the route: Until Cluny very easy, with a single low climb through the Ardennes. After Cluny moderate and gradual climb through the Massif Central. Short brisk pace through the Pyrenees. The trajectories of the Languedoc and Catalonia are easy.
So what that means is we would be looking at 14-18 days of riding and we would have 10-14 days off to do whatever. Although, Judith & Eric (see link above) took 33 days to do the trip with a few days off.
