Summer Tour Begins Amanda's Perspective
Summer Tour Day 3 - Rest

Andrew declared before bed last night that he wanted to leave by 7 a.m. I wasn’t fussed by that declaration as we were heading to bed at 9 p.m. I have no idea what time I initially stirred but the sun wasn’t up yet, so before 6 for sure. It was pouring rain! I figured we are no longer in a rush and went back to sleep.

We had a nice breakfast and left our friends place and then went for coffee at the local Bean Around the World in Brackendale. By the time we actually hit the road it was 10:30 and the rain was gone.

The road out of Squamish was big. Bigger than I thought it would be, but a steady climb so not too bad. Shoulder was big so no problem.

We switched our rain covers on panniers today so we each had a yellow one on the left rear side for cars to see. It really made us more visible in the rain. Combined with our lights on I really noticed cars giving us more space.

It poured again later in the day but it was within 15 kilometres of our destination so we weren’t too fussed. Perhaps also knowing we had a warm bed and shower helped. It was actually kind of fun.

It was a shorter day, about 55 kilometres I think. We were in the saddle for about four hours and on the road for about 6. Andrew is a great riding partner.

Andrew rides faster than me so usually I only capture him on camera during breaks.
